High Rock Coffee

Perhaps bloggers from the Pacific Northwest will recognize the name, "High Rock Coffee." It was new to us. Opening in our mall food court recently, in a space occupied by a variety of other companies (none of which stayed in business long), High Rock Coffee seems to be holding its own up to this point. We wish them well.

The bar at Ipanema

Ipanema is a Brazilian steakhouse located on Highway 441 in Ocala. With great food and a great bar, it is a very popular dining establishment.

Soapy's car wash and gold emporium

Soapy's is a car wash in southwest Ocala. But, it is more than that. It also houses a gold emporium which  wants to buy your gold. Soapy's also believes is bold advertising.  But if you believe that you have enough gold to bring in "piles of cash," I would like to sell you the proverbial bridge in Brooklyn.

We are "back" - sort of.

We've constructed a new website, which will become our main venue. It is a work in progress. It's titled "Images - L & L Photography," and you can check it out here.

In the immediate future, we are planning to post one photo a day on one of our other photo blogs.

A non-handicapped teenager

There is nothing physically wrong with this young man. He just thought it was fun to hop in a wheel chair and scoot around the store while his mother was shopping. He stopped quickly when he saw my camera, but kept smiling as he turned around and headed down another aisle!

Ocala - Zebra Capitol of the World?

A month or two ago, our neighbor told us he had seen zebras at a horse farm just a few miles north. We were skeptical, but every time we drove by the area, we checked carefully. No zebras.

Then a couple of weeks ago, on our way home from Cedar Key, we looked toward the field where the zebras were supposed to be and lo, and behold, there they were! We stopped, went to the fence, took a bunch of photos, and found them to be quite friendly, if a bit skittish.

We do not know where they came from or why they are here.
"Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
