I don't know what kind of tree or bush this is, or what kind of white flowers these are. The bottom photo I took first and there are other purple flowers which overpower the scene. The top photo was taken right after the first, and offers another color scheme entirely.The white flowers were very beautiful, hanging down from the branches. Perhaps someone out in CDP land will know what they are called.

ReplyDeleteJacob, those are probably white wisteria along with purple wisteria. They're both beautiful and they're in bloom everywhere in Pensacaloa right now. Those are great photos of them.

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like the flowers are coming from a vine and wisteria is a vine. Robinia is a tree. They are both in the bean family and the flowers look alike. ReplyDeleteBecause of the lighter lilac color, I'm going with wisteria, as well. Hard to say from the photos, but TOG is right - a good way to tell is if the flowers are attached to a shrubby vine winding up a tree, they are probably wisteria. If they are actually part of the tree itself, they are probably robinia. Either way, beautiful blooms!

ReplyDeleteIn fact, I think you're right. I rode my bike by it again today and it is not a vine, but a large bush heading toward a small tree.
In Florida, however, anything you plant becomes a tree unless you trim it constantly!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely a wisteria - a native climber to eastern US and east Asia. I often saw the purple one in South Africa - the white one not that often
