When we first drove by this old gas station and store, we thought it was shut down. It wasn't. Open for business. Not much business, though. There are very few of these types of businesses left - except in more rural areas. This is a remnant of the past.I couldn't determine which photo I liked best, so I posted both of them.

ReplyDeleteIt makes a real difference to the atmosphere of the shot when you take the colour away... the top one to me is warm, lazy, relaxed...I'm imagining the distant sound of a radio playing country music and kids inside buying ice cream. The bottom one looks like something out of an old horror movie.
ReplyDeleteThey are both cool but you know... pink... ;-) I've seen a couple of places like this one during my travels in the very rural parts of the Pacific Northwest, I even stopped at one. Way cool, they do everything for you, including wiping the windshield whereas elsewhere, you do the job... Life as it used to be...

ReplyDeleteI bet the owners used to wash your car windshield and check the air in the tires. Nice nostalgia.

I like them both but the color of the building is so neat and unusual, I'm glad you included it. When we travel, we take the road less traveled just to see these scenes.
