@ Ciel - I think you thought I was kidding about the bears...not so. There have been at least two occasions when black bears have been seen in trees in this area near downtown. In one case, I believe the authorities tranquilized it, but in the other, it finally came down from the tree and wandered off never to be seen again.
This house is only about 4 miles from the Ocala National Forest.
But we live only 1 mile from the ONF and I've never seen a bear in our community. Thank goodness.
Jake: It looks like you missed your calling. Perhaps you should have been in real estate. Your photo makes this place attractive, but purists may say the place has been remudled by the additions to the porch. What is important is whether there is a contented family inside.
@ Lee - I like your word, "remudled." But to each his own, I guess. The other thing is you really wouldn't be able to use the porch during the summer without some kind of screening...too many bugs! Notice on the second floor, there appears to be a small unscreened balcony. Perhaps the residents had a difference of opinion...
I don't know if they do it for comfort, but the windows in the porch don't make the house look good.
