The Melting Pot is an upscale restaurant located in downtown Ocala, directly across from the town square. It features fondue meals, and as you can see billiards are available upstairs. We have not eaten there as yet because their prices are "pricey," but it has a reputation for excellent food.

ReplyDeleteI find it a little amusing now to think of fondue at an upscale establishment, though I know for certain there are pricey restaurants here in Switerland featuring fondue. Mostly for the tourists, methinks.
Fondue, is 1 dish or are there a variety of fondue dishes? I really admire the way you capture the colors. This structure certainly has a nice combination. The blue and Orange. I love these colors.

Fondue in Brazil is a kind of expensive meal as well, but it is worth!

We have a Melting Pot here too and it is my daughter and son-in-law's favorite restaurant! They were just there this week for their wedding anniversary. The only thing is after you eat there, you come home smelling like the food, since you cook most of it yourself right at your table.

ReplyDeleteIn Denmark fondue is actually associated with the 1970's, but even at home it's a cosy way to have dinner with friends. It takes some time to get through the meal, so there's amble of time for talk about big and small.
Fondue is not exactly hot weather food - but I do love it in the winter!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this communal eating leads to the spread of H1N1? Hope not. What you should really try is hot pot which is an Asian version of cooking your soups and meat in a communal boiling hot pot. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteI suppose I should have prefaced my H1N1 comment with the fact that the school in which I work has two reported cases and perhaps a few unreported. We are all obsessed with cleanliness and Purell at the moment and the thought of sharing food is out of the question.

ReplyDelete@ Ciel - Blue skies! That's fantastic. It cleared just enough today for me to clean the pool and cut the grass. Now it looks like another storms approaching and it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow with thunderstorms Sunday and Monday. Sheesh!

@ Antjas - Your school has two cases of swine flu? Sheesh! I can imagine that the thought of sharing food doesn't sound very appetizing.
ReplyDeleteWe got caught up in the fondue craze many, many years ago...but Lois is a vegetarian, and I've never really enjoying eating out of a common pot...so it didn't last long.
Add all that to the high prices and it's unlikely we'll be frequenting The Melting Pot anytime soon.
The only fondue I like is chocolate. Not a huge fan of cheese fondue. I'm sure you can enjoy the same kind of food they serve at the restaurant by making it at home - and it would be more fun and a lot more affordable :)

occasion it can be quite nice.... just go for the
dessert fondue.... really decadent chocolate.

ReplyDeleteI've been to The Melting Pot in Tulsa. Pricey, but very good. Now I need some strawberries and angel food cake to dip in chocolate. :)
