  1. He's probably enervated from consuming too much msg, salt and sugar.

  2. How funny, I had the same idea today. There are a few restaurants around here that have opened back doors they have an old chair or milk crate where the cooks, preps or dish washers sit.
I made a mental note to take some pictures, now here it is. :-)
This is a very nice capture of the other side of the restaurant Jacob!
Btw. I got a good deal on a new computer and photoshop and they are due to arrive July 9th. Yippee! (this computer is too outdated to run the trial version, lol)

  3. Wow! Fantastic! A new computer is like Xmas in July! And Photoshop! You'll be the cat's meow!

If I can help in any way, let me know.

Re: today's photo - you know what they say about great minds...

Have a good night and a better tomorrow!

  4. @ Lee - "Enervated"? You've got to stop using such big words 'cause I've got haul out the dictionary and then look it up and then try to figure out what it all means and then try to remember it so if you use it again I won't have to haul out the dictionary, look it up and remember it!

Aha - "Deprived of strength." I knew that. Now, if you'd used "energized," I'da known what that meant without no problem and I wouldn't have had to haul...well, you know.

Have a great evening up there in Bend!

  6. par cette température, travailler en cuisine, cela doit être vraiment dur, et ce n'est que le début.
by this temperature, work in kitchen, it must really be hard, and it is only the beginning.

  12. I love candid photos like this. Shots that show the real world.... good and bad.... they are a true art in the world of photography. This one is fantastic !!! The post processing you added really brought out the mood as well.

This is a great showing Jacob and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

  13. Interesting picture! He looks so damn concentrated. Is he fixing the bike, fishing in the box or peeling a fruit?

  14. Jacob & Lois Ann- You made my day! I am so moved and honored to be the 4th recipient of your Pixel Perfect blog award. What a pleasant surprise! Thank you both. I will follow through and post the award and links as soon as I can.
Thank you for the suggestion of posting larger images. That seems to be a comment that has come up more than once lately so perhaps I should rethink the faster loading time vs. larger imager choice. I will be redoing my blog sometime this summer and will make the image change then. Thanks for your offer to help . . . I'll keep that in mind.

  15. Too hot in the kitchen, indeed. Love those candid moments. As Babooshka reminds us, Serendipity is a big part of photography!

    Great shot.

  16. That's a nice shot Jacob! We have a Chinese restaurant here with the same name.

  17. @ Buenos Aires - I think he's peeling onions, but it could be potatoes.

  18. #1 Chinese Food??!! Diners should never be allowed to see either the kitchen or the back door to the establishment. Scary stuff. (I lived behind a hillside restauarnt once on the Hudson and could see pots being stirred on the floor. It disturbed me for some reason. Still ate their giant shrimp served at the bar. They were never stirred.)

  19. @ Frank - I know what you mean...Lois' niece worked for a time in a Chinese restaurant. She never ate Chinese again!

  22. Hmmm, same here. Just hope that everything is well cooked and that the spices will do the trick. Your shot is perfect in that it captures what seems to be an universal thing.

  23. Great shot! #1 Chinese Restaurant.....hate to think about #2 or#3...will cook and eat at home! Have a good day. We have good and cool weather- 48 degrees here in the UP.You and Lois Anne come up here for our cooler weather.

  24. Is that a Mexican man working in a Chinese resto? Isn't it strange that these two types of cuisine always seem to be owned and operated by people of that origin? I always thought it was funny that Mexican restos in France were run by white people - and considered gourmet!

  25. Nice capture and great frame work. It surely must be too hot inside the kitchen!!!
