We'd like you to meet Haley, our Golden Retriever. Haley is 10 1/2 years old, with a bit of hip dysplasia which is very common in Goldens. Nevertheless, she gets around quite well. She is a "golden" dog, who just does nothing wrong. She doesn't even bark. Her parents were both champion show dogs and she looks very much like them. We call her "Pookie."
j'espère que cela n'est pas trop grave pour Haley, qui est très belle.
ReplyDeleteI hope that it is not too serious for Haley, which is very nice.
Thank you, Jacob and Lois, for this great photo.
ReplyDeleteAs you know we love dogs, too. A dog is an important member of the family and bring companionship, joy and lifelong loyalty.
Love your Pookie, golden in every sense. Great portrait of a champion dog.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo of a lovely dog - unbelievably cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Pookie! You are beautiful! Why don't you come over and join us at Pet Pride

Oh, she is beautiful! She looks like an old soul, too. Deep and just chock full of unconditional love.

Beautiful portrait of your dog. That lovely soft Golden face. Sorry about the displaysia but as you say, it's treatable with an anti-inflammatory and also glucosamine/chrondritin.
ReplyDeleteJacob, she's lovely!
ReplyDeleteHaley and our dog Siopao should get along very well, even if he's not pedigreed. He's 15 and doesn't bark much either. Just a bark or two when he sees a stray cat in the garage, then a token chase ;)
Haley's beautiful! No doubt an ELCA favorite breed! Ruf ruf!
ReplyDeleteLovely pet! Awsome shot!
ReplyDeleteWell Haley looks like quite the nice dog and very well cared for. Love the name. MB
ReplyDeleteOOoh, I want to hug that dog!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is very similar to our late, great Golden. He was 15 when he left us. I don't think I heard him bark but two or three times in all those years. I read a wonderful book titled THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN. You may enjoy reading it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog! Her fur is gorgeous and she looks like a sweetheart. Love her nickname too!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a 10 1/2 year old doggie, but she's a Weimaraner. She also has bad hips and one shoulder full of arthritis. We still walk 25-30 miles a week together thanks to canine arthritis meds (for Mollie, that is! Although, now that I am sharing the 40's with my boss, I sometimes feel like sharing Mollie's meds!). What would we do without our pups, huh?
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter shares Haley's name. She's my namesake as my maiden name is "Hale."
Thanks for sharing your Haley-girl with us, Jacob. Have a wonderful, sunny day!
I'm a sucker for dogs (cats, too). What a handsome animal.
ReplyDeleteMy friend has a Golden Retriever named Brandi--when she needs to go outside she has a bell she rings. She is getting older and has epilepsy...such a grand dog.
ReplyDeleteShe is so pretty ...
ReplyDeletePookie is a beaut!! Golden retrievers are one of my favorite breeds.
ReplyDeleteHaley looks like the sweet type that would very quietly find a place on the end of the bed at night. Or is it the entire middle of the bed? Beautiful dog.
ReplyDeleteshe's beautiful
ReplyDeletelove her sweet face
and the warm highlights in her fur color
who does her color!? ;)
she looks younger than 10 1/2
must be all the love
I am a dog lover and I really just want to come to Florida now and cuddle with and pet your "Pookie." She's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I absolutely love Goldens - they have to have the best, most kind demeanor of any dog.
ReplyDeleteLovely!!!!!
ReplyDeleteProbably not much of a guard dog but I'm sure that's not why you got her. Looks like a very nice and friendly family member. Well snapped too.
ReplyDeleteGolden Retrievers are one of the best family dogs. This one looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Looks great and friendly!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! That's a nice shot of a very nice dog. So cute! Pleasure to meet her.
ReplyDeleteHaley is beautiful. I have a warm spot in my heart for golden retrievers. Every one I've ever met was smart and gentle. A few have been a little naughty at times but I think that's because some are so smart they get bored if their owners don't exercise them enough. Haley looks well cared for.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased to meet her. She is a beautiful dog.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you again Pookie! I love you, you're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks very sweet, with a ... loving face. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHaley is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteI`m a swedish woman living in Singapore, I´m at the moment in Sweden but I fly back to Singapore on Sunday, I can´t wait:)
Hugs Gunilla
"This world has gone to the dogs" fortunately after looking at yours, this might be a good thing!
ReplyDeleteJacob, what a sweetheart Pookie is. All I can say is - where would we be without our dogs.
ReplyDeleteShe's just beautiful! My parents have a Golden named Maggie. She's only 2 and we are all crazy about her. They do make sure she has a nice bed to sleep in because she does seem to have stiffness in her hips, vet keeping an eye out for dysplasia.
ReplyDeletebeautiful hairs he has.
ReplyDeleteSmack!
