What are you looking at?

A friendly turtle giving us the once-over at Ocala's Sholom Park.

  1. Hello, Jacob ! Non, je n'ai pas pu monter dans la Montgolfière !

Votre photo d'aujourd'hui est étonnante avec un jeu de rayures et de couleurs

  5. A bold turtle, I'd say. The ones here tend to be shy - sun on logs in the water and slide into the wet at the the first sight of a camera.

  7. He just thought he was being stuck-up and pretending you didn't see him.....or else he just needs glasses. MB

  8. Are all turtles in Ocala "stuck up?"

  9. Who are we staring at? You, honey! We don't have any like you in France, except one-inch ones for sale in pet shops. I've heard that some people have let them loose in rivers or ponds though, after they tired of having them in an aquarium, and they're doing great damage to the local wildlife...

  10. Fabulous angle on that shot Jacob! What a little cutie. He reminds me of those little pet turtles they used to sell in the dime store when I was a kid. He certainly is giving you the once over!

  12. He looks a bit grumpy and ornery. I wonder if this turtle lives in a retirement pond community? Do you think they increased his dues??

I live between two ponds and as result, my backyard is a wildlife "highway" all summer long. Painted turtles like this guy, snappers and even a goose and duck family stumble through our yard as they make their way! We love it!

Cheers to you and Lois Anne!

  13. You've got a lot going on here to make this great picture. The grass, sticks and sand, the horizontal line of the water, the light reflections off the waves......

And of course Wurtle the Turtle.

My wife will love this one.

  14. I love turtles and had a few species at my parents' garden when I was young and still lived there. One of them came by plane from Angola in a gift box with a red ribbon as hand luggage! Now see the difference in what concern security measures those days!...
The photo is gorgeous! The water in the background is truly amazing! Great composition indeed!
