Who are we staring at? You, honey! We don't have any like you in France, except one-inch ones for sale in pet shops. I've heard that some people have let them loose in rivers or ponds though, after they tired of having them in an aquarium, and they're doing great damage to the local wildlife...

He looks a bit grumpy and ornery. I wonder if this turtle lives in a retirement pond community? Do you think they increased his dues??
I live between two ponds and as result, my backyard is a wildlife "highway" all summer long. Painted turtles like this guy, snappers and even a goose and duck family stumble through our yard as they make their way! We love it!
You've got a lot going on here to make this great picture. The grass, sticks and sand, the horizontal line of the water, the light reflections off the waves......
I love turtles and had a few species at my parents' garden when I was young and still lived there. One of them came by plane from Angola in a gift box with a red ribbon as hand luggage! Now see the difference in what concern security measures those days!... The photo is gorgeous! The water in the background is truly amazing! Great composition indeed!
I imagine the nice thing about turtles is that you have plenty of time to compose your photo! It's gorgeous! The water is incredible! Actually, I've decided it's a she and that she liked you!
