For sale

If you leave a place go in Florida, it soon becomes devoured by flora. This old house is located in Ocala's downtown area, just behind the main post office. It is for sale, if anyone is interested. I don't know the price.

  1. Boy! You aren't kidding are you? The greenery monster is eating it up. I like seeing both versions too. Good idea.

  2. Like we heard from our first realtor, "It has lots of possibilities." We usually ran for the front door of a house when she said that!

  3. @ Leif - What? You don't like this place...just look at all the potential!

  4. Actually, I bet it does have possibilities. Nice shot. Did you just happen to see it when riding around, or did someone alert you to it?

  6. Looks like it's due for a fire sale... or as a buyer would you like to order a home inspection?

  7. Here they will say: 'some works to be done'...

  8. This place is a beauty and sure has a great potential! Soon will be a time when you won't see such a lush green-covered place! Atleast here in my town in Mumbai....

  9. Ay-yi-yi!! Is about all I can say. Forget potential. MB

  10. Yep, I see the potential, especially if all of the structure in the photo is part of the building (or is that the neighbours behind?). Needs a bit of TLC though!

  11. Same story everywhere, I guess. The flora takes over. For whatever reason I recall images from Chernobyl (of all places) where houses are being engulfed in what was once their little garden.

  12. Agree with Jacob. If I were wealthy, I'd look into it!

  13. Goodness! That's downtown? I'd hate to see what an abandoned house in your countryside would look like! Fantastic!

  14. Looks to be in the jangle! ;)
I liked your idea about b&w! Cool!

  15. Well, actually, it does have potential. As they say, it has nice bones. Unfortunately those bones may be suffering a bit from the voracious greenery. But I love the shots, both of them.

  16. A little yard work, a fresh coat of paint, new windows and a/c;might be a steal at the right price.

  17. @ Eamon - It's all one building...

  18. A house in decay makes always a fascinating picture! Nature will finish it off sooner or later, I suppose.

  19. I hope the price is not too high. This looks like a real fixer-upper.

  20. I really like the black and white version of this shot. I would have to get a mold inspection before even going in there though!

  21. Holy Toledo..er...holy Ocala! Look at all that vegetation!

  22. I think the monochrome suits it ... it looks as if it need a lot of work .. so I suspect it wont sell quickly or at all ...

  23. This house is looking haunted !! But nice greenery..This is beautiful.

  24. Hi Jacob, the same thing happens here.

  25. My grandfather would have said "It has possibilities." In this case, for what I can't imagine, but in that location I would think it would have Location, Location, Location in its favor. I like the color best.

  26. Wait another 2 months and we 'll barely notice the house!!

  27. What an interesting building. I didn't realize it was there.

  28. Really captures the desolate feel of an abandoned house.

  29. Love both of these. The B&W adds something to the erie look of it..... but the color really brings out the "hostile" take over.

As I have told you before, I love the look of these "real" shots. Seeing life for what it is..... not manufactured. This is a great one.

  31. Looks like it has been for sale quite a long time..interesting house, tho. I like both versions!

  32. wow interesting house, where is the owner?

  33. I can only imagine the wildlife inside! Snakes slithering, roaches doing what roaches do, carpenter ants eating away at the wood, the smell of decaying food in the refrigerator that was never cleaned out. I'm sure there's an alligator or two in there as well. When's the bulldozer coming?

  34. @ Antjas - I think you have described the reality of this place perfectly! Probably no alligators, though...we usually find them in water; you know, like swimming pools.

  35. Reminds me of some places I've seen in Cayenne, French Guyana. Remember Papillon, the movie? Could be some old penitentiary, or a plantation, in the jungle.
The BW was a very good idea!

  36. It's really interesting to see the two versions of the same photo. The B&W really makes this poor place look decrepit! There's a lot of work there for someone who sees a diamond in the rough...
