Storehouse?

We found this place on a small country lane on the north side of Ocala...out in the woods. There was no sign of life anywhere. There is, as you can see, junk piled everywhere. But an anomaly: in the front yard, just off the porch is what appears to be a very colorful child's toy of some sort.

A conundrum, for sure!

  1. That is odd. One of those things that makes you go hmmmmm.

  2. A nice contrast between old and new, drab and colorful, poor and rich. Pictures abound everywhere.

  4. American horror movies have extensively teached us to run away from this kind of houses...

  5. I like the rusty roof. Well, it does look pretty abandoned to me but you can never be sure. At least the lawn looks as it was mowed some time ago.

  6. I don't know if it's the place or the photographer, or both, because your pictures are always so beautiful!

  7. I know someone with a similar front porch. That ramp is interesting. Does it mean someone with a disability lived (lives) there? And how complicated would it be moving a wheelchair around in a home containing a lot of stuff?

  8. This kind of reminds me of days gone by. Driving through Appalachia and seeing washing machines on the front porch. I was never sure if they worked or were just status symbols.

  9. Hi! Am now visiting you here rather than at The Villages that you're closing down. I like what I see here, too! Yes, the toy does look out of place---actually, that may be the October Theme Day...I'll go check.

  10. Looks abandoned...but who knows what was there, or who lived there....

Maybe they have a mailbox with a name on it...

  11. Hmm... maybe they're just out for awhile? Or the aliens got them.

  12. It doesn't look too overgrown, so maybe it hasn't been abandoned for very long. That tin roof sure looks rusty!

  15. That is a great rusty roof on the old place. I wonder if someone lives there or if a child left a toy after a visit for fixing or cleaning. Interesting find.

  16. I love a tin-roofed old house! The colorful child's toy does suggest someone still lives here. Some people are pack rats, can't get rid of anything. I'm ashamed to say, but my next door neighbors have a non-working washing machine on their front porch. Beem there since last summer. Maybe I should take a pic LOL

  17. Very curious indeed. Makes a very interesting photo, one that leaves the onlooker something to ponder.

  18. What I've noticed is that kids' toys end up in the weirdest places. Thanks for the interesting image!

  19. I also love the rusted roof.

About the child's toy: Remember Arsenio Hall? He had a section of his show called "Things that make you go hmmm." He could have had fun with this.

  21. I really like VP's comment. There is a dilapidated Psycho-cabin look to it. The colors of the toy really make one pause before thinking it's abandoned. Spooky place.

  22. I love how the toy just sits on the side like that. That's a pretty cool building. :)

  28. Love the rusted roof. Rust also happens to be my favorite color. Some time back I had designed quite a few Desktop Wallpapers & Website Layouts...too.. it's just amazing to work with the rust color.

P.S the header picture looks awesome.

  29. La magia de esta foto es el contraste del hierro oxidado, con los colores del juguete. Lo que perece en el tiempo y lo que dura, en este caso el plástico, como si fuera recien comprado. Un saludo.

  30. I love this picture. Truth is though I wish that colorful toy, while being an odd addition, wasn't there. This shot has so much potential as a sepia or monochrome image. Framed in an old wood style frame...... it would be fantastic.

That scene with the train bridge and boat was in fact shot in Hastings. Good eye. I have been under it many times. Even without the train it is an uneasy feeling to be there. With the train... your heart races.

  31. could be someone think this is place to dump things? so colorful toys were recented put here... beautiful shot still :)
