This one's for Per Stromsjo at Stockholm by Pixels. Some time ago, he raised the question as to whether we had any "Swedish" houses (blue & yellow) in Ocala. Since then, we've searched high and low but could not find anything fitting that description.
We've driven by this place hundreds of times. It's located on a small but busy road in the woods just across from Silver Springs Park. The house, obviously quite old, was a weather-beaten white, badly in need of paint and a general sprucing up.
What a surprise. We drove by the other day and this is what we saw. Per Stromsjo's Swedish house!
It doesn't appear to have a volvo in the garage.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute place. Patience pays off once again.
ReplyDeleteCute house and I absolutely love the colors.
ReplyDeleteCool house.. .dont want to know how hard it is to keep it that yellow :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute, and Swedish indeed. Now I think I'll keep my eyes open for 'Swedish' styles here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, sweet house. Imagine that--a real coincidence. And look at that red chimney. Per is going to love this. MB
ReplyDeleteLooks like a toy house.
ReplyDeleteCute coloured house!

Oh, we have a Swedish house, too, right across the street. I'll see if I have a photo of it in my archives (or if I can get a good one of it right now) and post it today. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am laughing it took me a minute to 'get' why its Swedish ...
ReplyDeleteYes, it looks quite Swedish!:-)
ReplyDeleteNice place and nice photo.
Just think of what the new owners of this place could do with three different paint colors on your Storehouse. Wow, let the Swedes begin!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I'm sure Per will appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty and they even have a matching garage! I didn't know this was called a Swedish house. I'll have to look around and see if we have any here.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's so cute. I like the yellow and blue and the chimney sets it off nicely. The style kind of reminds me of the one that my husband lived in when he was a kid, that I posted on August 21st.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, very colorful. You seem to have a Swedish house theme going on with Brattcat! I like it!No Swedish houses here, but there is a Swedish church in Barcelona, for all the sunseeking Swedes living here.
ReplyDelete@ Lois - The "Swedish house" thing is kind of a joke, Lois. The reason I call it Swedish is because of the colors - yellow and blue!
ReplyDeleteBut check out the color of the chimney! Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteNice colours for a cottage-style house. Now I bneed to keep my eyes open to see if I can find a Swedish house. ;-)
ReplyDelete...and there you have it! The colours appear to be just right. I'm impressed by your relentless research endeavor in this matter!
ReplyDeleteCase closed, the witness may be seated.
What a cool looking house!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this cottage. I didn't know blue/yellow made it "Swedish". When our friend Peter returns to Paris I'll try and remember to tell him to check this out. Per has put me onto something. I"ll nose around B'ham and see what i find!
ReplyDeleteI like this blog too. The banner is just drop dead gorgeous.
V
Can they send their leftover cans to the house of Yesterday's post?? !!!! ;~))
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy looking house! I think it would be impossible to be sad in this house. How cute. Great find!
ReplyDeleteCute little one!

Serendipity to be sure! Incidentally, is Ocala really "the horse capital of the world?" Your banner is wonder and underscores that caption. How about Kentucky? What kind of competition?
ReplyDeleteOn dirait une maison de poupée ! Elle est bien entretenue !
ReplyDeleteSo smaaart you are to find a Swedish House to post on Thursday. Yup!
ReplyDelete@ Kate - I'm sure there's some competition between Ocala and Kentucky, but Ocala claims the title with more than 200 horse farms. Ocala also claims a number of winning race horses - born, raised, or trained here.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know for sure. But that's the hype.
It's a little gem too. Your composition shows it off very nicely _ I bet the owners will be pleased if they see your photos.
ReplyDeleteThe dashes of red are a nice touch on this structure.
Ouch! I missed this very important discovery? A real Swedish masterpiece: you got it painted on purpose?
ReplyDeleteAnd with a red chimney and steps too! Absolutely charming!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you're semi-closing your Cedar Key and The Villages blogs. Both places are so charming too. But I can understand why. I only have two and I can't even post on the other one regularly anymore.
A lovely building and a great 'Swedish' find! (; I'm glad you were successful in your mission. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI do love your new banner. My neighbor's house is yellow and blue, alas, the wrong shade of blue, so we'll call it a colonial. It took me a while to figure out why it was Swedish. The red chimney further enhances the Swedish theme as in Swedish fish.
ReplyDeleteI heard it was the Finns that got blue. But I don't mean to malign them. I've already posted something about Vikings in our streets (with the Scandinavian flags on the long boat in the parade), and was notified that Finns were not Vikings and there is no need to fear them. Which reminds me, I need to go and let her know that I'm no longer afraid of Finns. Except perhaps on sharks, which is another topic.
ReplyDelete@ Tapirgal - You are on a funny streak today! Love it! Or, should I say "finny" streak! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteNever seen such a house in Sweden.
ReplyDelete@ Steffe - You don't have yellow and blue houses in Sweden?
ReplyDeleteYellow and blue is Swedish because of the colors of the flag, right??? Otherwise I am a little confused...
ReplyDelete@ TheRandomTraveler - Yes. It's kind of a joke...what makes the house "Swedish" is just the colors which are the colors of the Swedish flag!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming little house - and I do like the colors. So yellow and blue make it Swedish, huh? Sorry I haven't been by in a while - life has gotten in the way and I was traveling for a while. By the way - I love your new horse header - great photo!
ReplyDeleteI am Swedish and well...no I've never seen a house like this over here. We have wooden red and white houses...but yes the colors are correct. I am moving to ocala in august so i'll have to check this one out.
