These two were photographically captured at the Paddock Mall in Ocala. I do not know if they were friends or not, but they remained in conversation for quite some time. Then, the young lady went back to her job peddling rejuvenation pills from the Dead Sea.

Jacob, I left some notes for you on the comments for Fort Clatsop. I think you're right. It was the end of the trail for L & C, and the books probably said something like, "They wintered near the Pacific Ocean and started their journey back home." Boring. But it gets more intersting as you are on the spot. I think that besides being a miserably wet and cold winter, it was fairly uneventful in that they got along reasonably well with the Indians and took a lot of field notes. They also trekked a long ways to the coast and then south and set up a salt works.
