I got the feeling this owl did not like being photographed. Fortunately he was tethered to the trainer.

  6. Hmm, the expressions of that owls look like it's not ready for a photograph. May be the owl wanted to get into a better pose and position before you click....

  13. I think owls ALWAYS look like they don't want to be photographed! But they're cute all the same, and this is a lovley portrait of both the man and the reluctant owl.

    I don't think owls ever look very friendly though. It's just not their way.

  19. Very nice picture. I recently took some pictures of an owl who didn't like his picture taken. He kept turning his head away.

  20. That is a very serious look you're getting. I hope they keep him well fed before small children get close.

  21. @ Don and Krise - Answers:

    1. No problem. I told him he had two choices: hold the damn bird or get waterboarded.

    2. Methinks he was not fed his usual complement of mice and bunnies.

  24. Jacob this is fantastic. Owls are such magical birds, we don't have many of them left unfortunately. It does look a bit cross!

  27. That's a great looking bird. With a stare like that, it's hard to tell if he's just interested in what you're doing or thinking about pecking your eyes out.

  28. What an incredible animal! I love the colors. I don't know this species. Not that I know so much about birds :)

  29. Majestic owl but quite stern looking! Probably that's how these birds smile. Our perception is just not compatible. (;

  34. Like owner like pet. They seem to share a similar expression. But the owl is so petrified that might be made up of cardboard or wax. Great shot Jacob.
