Hmm, the expressions of that owls look like it's not ready for a photograph. May be the owl wanted to get into a better pose and position before you click....
I think owls ALWAYS look like they don't want to be photographed! But they're cute all the same, and this is a lovley portrait of both the man and the reluctant owl.
That's a great looking bird. With a stare like that, it's hard to tell if he's just interested in what you're doing or thinking about pecking your eyes out.
Oh, I love to go see big birds with their handlers. They really give me a thrill. That is a BIG owl.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a gorgeous bird! What kind of owl is it?
ReplyDeletehe sure has a 'dont mess with me' look!
ReplyDeleteYou know how people often look like their dogs, look at the trainer's face and tell me what bird comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteHe's giving you the 'fish eye'. and he likes fish so protect your eyes.
ReplyDeleteOdd looking owl---but cute and scowley. MB

Two questions Jacob...
ReplyDelete1. How did you get Dick Cheney to pose with that bird? and...
2. Why does he look like he wants to have you for dinner?
la chouette est magnifique, et j'aime bien le flouté en fond
ReplyDeleteLook at that faces (owl included)! That trainer didn't show well happiness either. The sixty pound owl is staring at you so badly!
ReplyDeleteHe has a funny look.
ReplyDeleteYou snapped this great shot anyway and no one was the wiser.
ReplyDeleteWow, hes awesome looking. Bigger than I would have guessed they were.
ReplyDeleteWho who! Who Who! Was Frank enjoying the show with his tethered friend?
ReplyDeleteJacob, you were kinda' owly on your blog yesterday!

ReplyDeleteWow! He's a real beauty.
ReplyDeleteI don't think owls ever look very friendly though. It's just not their way.
Yes he does look like he has tolerated you long enough! What a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteOwls are supposed to be wise, but the old man looks pretty wise, too. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteA great shot! Owls creep me out, tho. They always seem to have murder in their eyes!
ReplyDeleteI do believe the owl is "not amused."
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture. I recently took some pictures of an owl who didn't like his picture taken. He kept turning his head away.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very serious look you're getting. I hope they keep him well fed before small children get close.
ReplyDelete@ Don and Krise - Answers:
ReplyDelete1. No problem. I told him he had two choices: hold the damn bird or get waterboarded.
2. Methinks he was not fed his usual complement of mice and bunnies.
@ Becky - I was afraid someone was going to ask that question. They told us but I didn't write it down and now have no clue.
ReplyDeleteHe's a dramatic-looking type.
ReplyDeleteWhich ones the owl?
ReplyDeletethe trainer looks none too happy either!
ReplyDeleteJacob this is fantastic. Owls are such magical birds, we don't have many of them left unfortunately. It does look a bit cross!
ReplyDeleteApparently even a trainer would want some amount of protective measures.
ReplyDeleteI think this owl is enjoying a lot , posing for your camera! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible animal! I love the colors. I don't know this species. Not that I know so much about birds :)
ReplyDeleteMajestic owl but quite stern looking! Probably that's how these birds smile. Our perception is just not compatible. (;
ReplyDeleteLOOK AT THOSE CLAWS! WoW!
ReplyDeleteLOL! What a riot!
ReplyDeleteCute owl, I say! I might be afraid of the trainer!!!
Very handsome looking owl. You didn't mention the type of owl though and I'm curious to know :)
ReplyDelete@ Baruch - I don't remember and I didn't write the name down when it was introduced. I believe it is of a type found in Florida.
ReplyDeleteLike owner like pet. They seem to share a similar expression. But the owl is so petrified that might be made up of cardboard or wax. Great shot Jacob.
