  1. I like these statues. This mosaic one is gorgeous. It's neat to see that they are placed all over town.

  2. Unique mosaic adornment to the sculpture to be sure. I don't recall what the Appleton museum is. It looks like a place for the grandchildren.

  3. Wow - they don't horse around with their art in Ocala! They're serious! Fancy horsie!

  4. He's very colorful. Is there another one around there that is a horse of another color?

  5. @ Lee - The Appleton is actually one of the better museums in Florida and we're fortunate to have it here in Ocala.

  6. @ Memphis Mojo - There are something like 50-55 of these horses, all of different colors, around town. They are part of a program called "Horse Fever," which is a celebration of Ocala's horse-raising-training industry!

  7. Is that mosaic? It's gorgeous! I think it would feel quite at home in Rob's Barcelona too.

  10. "Now that's a horse of a different color!" Know where that quote is from??

  11. This is such a great idea. They had moose in Bennington (about 1 hour away-still Vermont) not too long ago. In Maine they had lighthouses. After the year the "art" was auctioned off. In Ocala, also? Or will these remain as permanent art installations?

  12. @ Brattcat - They've been here since we've been here - 5 years; so far as I know they are permanent.

  13. @ Allison - Ah...let's see...could it be from that character you work for? Nah.

  14. Horse fever? Is this one of the symptoms, to become all coloured?
    God bless you!

  15. That one is beautiful. Are they going to keep it on public display? I like the art-horses better than the decorated cows Chicago had a couple of years ago!

  19. Simply unbelievable creations. I do admire the people who first thought up the public art programs involving horse, turtles, manatees, etc. They certainly have brought a lot of fun and color to our downtown areas!

  22. I've always wanted somebody to give me a horse to 'do'. I think I would have fun. This one is really elaborate.

  23. Wow. That is the most elaborate one I've seen. We did turtles here in Charleston but they weren't as cool as the horses.
