Smoke gets in your eyes

Not to worry, this is merely smoke from a nearby chimney! Shot from the deck of our house in Ocala.

  1. Those are nice colors in the sky. Then my eye was drawn to the smoke. Nice contrast with the greens, too.

  4. Having experienced the Oakland Hills fire in 1992 where more than 2000 homes burned and almost 30 people died, any time «Louis» sees smoke in trees, alarm bells go off!

  10. Interesting shot. I'm ready to get home, let's hope my flights later this evening are not delayed. I'm still a little disappointed I didn't see any sun here in Florida. But I guess it's warmer here than it has been in Jackson.

  15. It's pretty Jacob! We had some smoky looking (and smelling) skies here the other day, but I think it was from a controlled burn in the National Forest.

  16. Must have bee chilly there in the "Sunshine State". The picture is so interesting though, it captures the imagination.

  17. Jacob, I don't do any of that other stuff--I just watch the mountain. I think it disappears during the day because it is on an elevator and down it goes.
I think the clouds cover it because as the air warms the atmosphere is different and maybe pollution down towards Seattle-Tacoma area makes a difference too.

I suppose it is 150+ miles away--as the crow flies maybe closer. I should check into that idea. Thanks for giving me something to do. haha!! MB

  22. Must be a big chimney/fireplace. Is it THAT cold?

  23. Fire places are interesting. Once upon a time no house was considered complete without them. Nowadays it's the opposite, they're almost looked upon with suspicion in terms of risk.

  24. I'm glad it's not a house fire...just smoke from a chimney.
