Nice photo! There is a certain kind of dove here that is very pretty, with a dark ring around its neck. I have a photo of one my neighbor feeds when it comes to her window sill, so I will post it soon.
Nice one! You make it look like a painting. Speaking of birds, I loved your comment about the owl - that owls always seem to look "dangerously bored." I'd never thought of that, but you are right on target! Their expressions make sense now!
Gorgeous. This bird seems fairly comfortable hanging out on this rail. We see lots of doves around here..... but in high places. Roof tops, trees, telephone poles..... never at eye level like this.
Yes I do love them and I have a lot of them in my backyard! I'm finally back to visiting everyone again after the wedding hoopla. It's good to be back in my normal routine.
We have some Mourning Doves that nest in our yard that look like this. We also get a flock of ten Ringed Turtle Doves that spend time in the yard. They have a dark ring around the back of the neck and are a little bigger and they have a different call. I like the doves but not so much the Pigeons which are also called "Rock Dove". I don't know why that is. You made a beautiful portrait of this little one.

@ JM - I have no idea. They are called by other names in other areas. I think they're really a pigeon in disguise! :-)
