Police protection from ourselves

A police presence is sometimes necessary at a busy crossing to protect us from those who might run us down - accidentally or otherwise.

  3. We would need snipers for that...

  4. Here you're more likely to get run down by the 'otherwise'.

  5. What has become of our society?

  6. Yikes, you make it sound so dangerous to cross the street.

  7. They should always be present at some crossings here! But as we say, there never is a policeman around when you need one...

  9. The motorcycle is a Harley, I believe. I think that's all American coppers use. They've been in our neighborhood trying to get people to slow down.

  10. There was a similar scene in our neighborhood yesterday. I'm still not sure what was going on with that one though.

  11. Not many speeders on my street. Will they follow me to lunch and protect me from pizza?

  12. OOps, didn't I comment here too?

Lol @ VP, we'd need the same here!

  13. Do you mean we don't know how to drive, or we don't know how to cross a street?

@VP, This would be funny, except I have been in Italy.

When I moved to Oregon, I was shocked, and am still surprised, when drivers stopped for people trying to cross a street even if it wasn't at a corner or intersection. So polite, or ??? It always makes me feel good when this happens.

  14. I like the name "sheriff" :)
By the way, it's REAL, as we see in those movies, they love donuts?

  15. Our drivers are also very polite here, they stop for people crossing, and I think I've said before, they even stop for me when I'm photographing something!

  16. We have seen an increase in the number of patrols around my area too. Revenue from speeders is easy money because we have sooo many of them.

  17. I feel most people don't realize how stressful police work is. We had the G20 in Toronto last weekend and now they are being heavily criticized by some people for doing too much to control the riots and by others for doing too little. Aach!!!
