This is one of the new "Horse Fever" horses in Ocala and is literally a "quarter" horse. Attached in various places on this horse are quarters...plastic quarters. Unfortunately, persons unknown have pried many of them off leaving the poor horse with numerous scars. We'll show close-up photos of the horse in the near future.

This statue has graced the park a lot !!!!!!! Happy and peaceful Christmas to you and your family, with so much friendship and joy Elettra
ReplyDeleteI read recently that in Austin, Texas, Lucy Baines Johnson paid something like $150,000 for a decorated cow made to look like a longhorn and covered with something like 10,000 pennies. The story was in a Hartford newspaper because a local company is the organizer of these "cow parades" and the artist was from here, too.
ReplyDeleteLove that... I had a kid on my school bus glue (super glue) a quarter to the floor... it took a mechanic with a large screw driver and a hammer to get it up and yes, it scarred the floor... poor horse! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they need to put a sign next to it to inform the riffraff that the quarters are not real...
ReplyDeleteHa ha I love it! The lampposts look great too!
ReplyDeleteNice shot, can't wait for the close-up.
ReplyDeleteGroan. Steal quarters? How low is that?
ReplyDeleteIn my home town of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, they did cows a number of years back. One was entirely, and I mean entirely, covered with shiny pennies...most of which stayed there.
ReplyDeleteSomeone didn't know that pennies make dollars... ;)
Lowell, wish you a Merry Christmas!!

ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be a horse's...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Eve!
lol -- quarter horst. That's a cute concept. The park looks very festive. Hope you're enjoying the season!
ReplyDeleteThis one is a real beauty. I really like the concept here. When I was living in Chicago, they had an art competition with cows. There were colorful cows all over the city.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how heavy that would be if they were real quarters. Shame on someone for making scars on the poor creature. I like the pretty decorations!
ReplyDeleteThere are always fools among us!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!
A pun! Groan.
