Daniel Willoughby has offered produce for sale at several locations in Marion County for a number of years. This one is located on SR 40 in Ocala. I've never shopped at Willoughby's but I remember that another of his sites often featured religious signage - I'd guess as a means of "evangelizing" customers.
Willoughby got in a bit of a fracas with a customer a couple of years ago and was charged with battery. But due to discrepancies in the plaintiff's story the State's Attorney did not follow through and Willoughby was eventually exonerated of the charges.
Note the pumpkins in the bin front and center. Pumpkins? In February? Well, I think they're pumpkins!
I love produce stands. I may have stopped at one but if I see another you can count on a stop. Oh and yes I love the snow. Even after my last fall.
ReplyDeleteI don't hold with having all fruits all the time. There is a season for everything and February is not the season for pumpkins.

ReplyDeleteHmmm...perhaps Willoughby hasn't heard that the customer is always right. That storefront sort of looks like a 7-11 that went out of business.

I'd pass up the one with the religious signs. Religion and retail just don't go together in my eye.

ReplyDeleteWe had a small local store here on our main street that sold an interesting assortment of cards, jewelry, truffles, and the like. And they offered free prayers to customers. I recently noticed they're not in business anymore. (Too many prayers? Not enough? Maybe this is not the right business model.)
Always loved Indian River citrus fruit, but I would open a can if I were making pumpkin pie.
