In this part of the world, during the spring and fall we are plagued with Love Bugs. Love Bugs swarm in the warm weather. Individually, they don't live very long but mate madly everywhere and get into everything. They taste foul so have no natural predators. Fortunately, they don't bite and are not harmful to humans, but if you must drive during love bug season, your car will soon be covered with their remains.
When that happens, it behooves you to clean them off immediately for their innards can permeate the paint on your car and create nasty scars.
The Toyota above is an example of what can happen in just a few miles.
That's terrible, Lowell. In Montreal I have seen shad flies and they can leave a mess on cars as well...but this car indeed looks a mess. Great capture.
ReplyDeleteYuk.
ReplyDeleteThat is a northeastern azalea. They thrive up here. Only flower for a couple of weeks, but offer good foliage the rest of the time.
Talk about tough love.
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteYou've to go to car wash !
Oh my, that isn't for me... I only wash ze car about twice a year!
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similiar issue here in Llandudno, with seagull 'deposits'... not good!
ReplyDeleteoh, yuck.
ReplyDeletehmmm difficult to clean everything!
ReplyDeleteLéia
that is awful! I was thinking that you needed more bats but, if the bats won't eat them, then I guess you have to put up with them.
ReplyDeleteck! You can have them. My car will be in the garage. MB
ReplyDeleteI don't like driving through swarming bugs...I don't like bugs. Well, maybe butterflies. But if they were swarming, I don't think I'd like them either.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the flying ants that seem to come out of nowhere after it rains in Angola's raining season. A nightmare!
ReplyDeleteToday's the day for bug posts (check out mine). I don't think I care for either variety. Methinks you missed an opportunity in not finding these love buggies paving the front of a VW beetle.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good time to leave the car at home!
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for cars I would love to be reincarnated as a love bug.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the joke: How can you tell a happy motorcyclist?
ReplyDeleteA: By the bugs on his teeth.
Phew... thats tough!
ReplyDeleteIn reply to your query on my post: They are Lesser flamingos and feed on algae which give them the pink colour. More about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesser_Flamingo
Ah yes... and I know why you call them love bugs. ;)
