Mediterranean style house

This beautiful home is probably unremarkable except for the fact that it is in a neighborhood consisting of several hundred homes every one of which, with this exception, is a one-story ranch style structure. I've been told that the governing documents forbid a two-story house in this community. So, the question is, how did this happen? No one seems to know.

  3. Some sort of arrangement, you know...

It's beautiful though and why ever not more than one floor? I mean I could understand not more than 2 or 3...

  6. A friend of the Mayor, no? :-) It's a great house, though, quite similar in style to many around here.

  7. I'm glad I don't have to pay for the air conditioning in this home. But I suspect money is not a problem for the owners. :)

  15. The nasty truth of CC&Rs & "governing documents" is that if you look at them carefully you'll usually find there are no enforcement provisions. We discovered this after a neighbor, smack in our spectacular view, painted their new house toothpaste green despite our provisions that colors be natural, neutral, and subdued. Our homeowner's board said "Tsk, tsk," told us about another scofflaw, and pretty much left it at that. Two story Mediterranean? No problem!

  16. In my previous community there were a few that were too big and too high, but the current community seems to have better compliance. One might think that, Hey, It is my property, I should be able to do what I want! but when one moves into a community with restrictions, one should abide by them.
