Great selection! I especially like the anhinga and gull shot (the anhinga looks like what we call a cormorant around here). I can't say that I've seen any storks...but perhaps that has to do with birth control moreso than species distribution?
Aren't these fellas lovely! Your pelicans seem lighter than the ones further south. And my favorites are wood storks. We get a few in my neighborhood, and the Corkscrew sanctuary is a leading breeding place.

Why good ole Central Florida has a plethora a birds I see. More more Nice shots. Is the poor Hawk in a cage?
The Amtrak goes through Stanwood morning and night and the freight goes through several times---up to Canada I think.
Stanwood hasn't had a train station since 1974 so it was nice to have a new one in 2009---I don't know how much it is used but nice to know it is there. MB
I live this! Beautiful pictures of the birds and I have never been able to get such a good shot of a vulture as the one you have. Not the prettiest one of the bunch but important none the less. Natures clean up crew.
They could all be postcards for Fla, Lowell! One of my great memories is going to the Corkscrew Sanctuary to see the breeding grounds of the Wood Storks. They were making so much noise that it sounded like a construction site.
We get all these birds in the spring and summer months except the Wood Stork. Never seen one around here.
ReplyDeleteI still wear hats, but on the Prairie it is a baseball cap that is most common. Mine says "Habitat For Humanity" on it. They mostly all say something.
