I do believe, but am not certain, that this is a Pontiac from the late 1930s. Whatever, it has been beautifully restored. Note how the back door opens toward the front of the car. That was dangerous. We always had to watch my grandmother so she didn't open the door when we were driving down the road and get flung into the street!
A real beauty. My dad would be the sort who'd be able to identify it. My ability to identify cars generally starts and ends with the Jeep.

ReplyDeleteLowell, I believe this is a 1936 or 37 Packard 120 Sedan. These were luxury cars of their era competing with Cadillacs and Chrysler Imperials. This car could have the V-12 engine, but more likely it is a V-8. Packard was ahead of their time with independent front suspension and power assisted hydraulic brakes. These are still luxury cars today being rare and beautiful.

ReplyDeleteA beauty, and in my favorite color. I had a Deux Chevaux in Paris once, an old one even then, that had front doors (the only doors....) that opened toward the front. Very, very basic.
