Time machine and water cooler

You will find this time machine/water cooler between the 6th green and 7th tee box at the Ocala National Golf Course.  Water coolers are placed strategically on the golf course to help players keep hydrated during the heat of the summer.  I'm guessing the clock is there to let players know if they are keeping the proper pace.

Unfortunately, this clock was not working.  But with everybody having a cell phone it's not much needed anymore.

One might say it's a relic of times gone by and is no longer timely.

  1. What a shame. A cell phone will never replace a beautiful clock!

  2. Yup. I guess it's going the way of phone booths. Land lines. Typewriters. Geezers like us.

  3. I rather prefer the old clocks to digital.

  4. And, here I thought you found a real time machine that would transport you into the past or the future. Sort of like a certain DeLorean I've heard about.

  5. The clock is nice whether it works or not! This water cooler reminds me of a birdhouse.

  6. I guess watches are disappearing too!
You haven't photoshopped that clock onto there? ;-)

  7. Where I play, clocks like this do still have a role. If you have a 9:10 tee time, when you reach each tee with a clock, it should read 9:10 if you are on a four hour pace. If it reads 9:20, speed up. If it reads 9:00, you are gaining time.

  9. Here in Germany, they don't provide water on the courses. I think it's a shame because people are expected to walk and it can get quite hot. We also don't have "cart girls" to bring you drinks. You just have to plan ahead...

  12. The clock is still a good reminder to keep up the pace. :)

  13. Time machine, what a nice word to describe a clock, but no cell phone can be compared with a good old "Time machine" :-)

  14. A little bit of the old days. It is good to have some drinking water available for those of us who forget to bring some.

  15. I did not think we could take an interest at the time when we play golf

  16. I agree with Karl here: sadly this time machine is out of order!

  17. Tell your ranger to study up on clock repair. Are your holes named? Time Machine would be a good choice.

  18. Your last sentence is a rather sad statement.

  19. Dehydration is a no-no in intensely hot summer. Water cooler is a good idea, much better than vending machine for drinks including not only water and tea but also beer and alcoholic beverages. I like the antique clock.
