Well, John Travolta didn't build the thing himself, but word is that he put up some money to have this "house" established in downtown Ocala. Travolta has a home just north of Ocala but has kept a low profile in this area of late.
We go by this "house" often when in the downtown area, but seldom see more than one or two people go in or out of the place. I'd guess it will take a long time before Scientology gains a foothold in this community where fundamentalist Christianity rules the roost.
I like the yellow striped awnings. They really dress up the building.
ReplyDeleteAh, cults. Even more obnoxious than mainstream fundamentalists.
ReplyDeleteI once had occasion to send a couple of door knocking Jehovah's Witnesses fleeing down the sidewalk by saying I was a Satanist in the middle of a blood sacrifice, and would they like to take part.
Not likely I would be looking for an opportunity to go there. To each his own. I agree with William!
ReplyDeleteIt looks more like a store front than a religious institution. It is considered a cult.
ReplyDeleteWilliam's comment cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great comfort that there are so many cults/religions in this world that stand ready to save our souls?!
It looks like a strange bookstore...
ReplyDeleteI preferred his role in 'Saturday Night Fever' to be honest ;-)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I still don't understand why this "church" isn't seen as a cult. I guess it's b/c there are some high-profile members, like Mr. Travolta.
ReplyDeleteI don't know which is worse! (I probably shouldn't have said that.)
ReplyDeleteNutology reigns throughout this great land.
ReplyDeleteTo each his own I suppose

Scientology... Fundamentalist Christianity... Well, I'd better say no more! As to Travolta I just want to get focused on his great role in Pulp Fiction and not to think of anything else regarding him because I enjoy watching that movie from time to time... :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely and colourful. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteWell, guess I'd happy with the lesser of two evils (IMHO).
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of money involved!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as Sharon!
ReplyDeleteScientology and fundamental Christianity are not compatible.
