We were heading home on Highway 301. The day, which dawned in sunshine, had turned dull and cloudy. A few miles south of Interstate 10, traffic jammed up in one of the many small towns, most of which were notorious speed traps. We waited at a light behind this behemoth. As I recall, under those wraps were new BMW vehicles. We hoped the driver would take off slowly so the cars didn't roll backward and land on us! He did.
I always find it a bit spooky to be behind one of those guys! Those and cement trucks! ;-))

ReplyDeleteI am VERY attentive to the speed limit when driving out there. I suspect many of the little towns are financed on tickets given to out-of-owners.

ReplyDeleteLowell, you were right about Sainte-Trinité. I read that it was renovated in the summer of 2007. It makes a majestic sight on the Paris cityscape.

My brother worked at a car dealership driving the cars up onto those trucks when he was in Uni. It was well-paid, but scary I'm sure! Glad to hear you made it home in one piece.

ReplyDeleteJust got home from California late last night and for a time it was just like this, stop and go on the I-10 just east of Palm Springs. Rolling along side of us was one of these car transport trucks full of Subarus but, what caught my eye more than anything was that the truck itself was brand new. Everything on that truck was shiny and bright. I'm betting it might have been it's first trip on the road.

ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the fancier the car the more the shrouding. I've observed that the cars always have chains to hold them in but I can't say it is reassuring.

ReplyDeleteI thought maybe you WANTED a new BMW to roll right into your lap( so to speak). When we roadtripped all the time, I often thought of doing a post of just stuff I took pictures of when we were suck or slowed down in traffic. ( you have to be easily amused to survive full time RVing).
