Brownwood, the 3rd and newest of the hometowns in the Villages, is designed around a "western" theme. I've always thought the Brownwood hometown square resembled a rodeo arena. There are several entrances to the square - this is the main or at least the most elaborate one.
Of course, John Ford would have pointed out there were no palm trees in Westerns.
ReplyDeleteOr it could be a pow wow grounds at one of our Indian reservations. This is a surprising theme of their architectural style.
ReplyDeleteElaborate it is indeed, but I'd feel like I was at a rodeo if I lived there, but then you know what a weirdo I am!! Great shot though, as always!!
ReplyDeleteDoes anything actually happen here? Or is it all just decorative?
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of strange....I don't think I'd like to live there.
ReplyDelete"The Horse Soldiers"
ReplyDeleteWhere's John WAYNE ???
Pierre
It is a bit like a theme park isn't it? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHorse driven transport?
ReplyDeleteUhm. Does Mickey come out to welcome visitors? Or would that be an animated John Wayne?
ReplyDeleteBack to the good old days, when The white hats always won! Yeah. Let's go live in an adult Disneyland. ( I like visiting ...Disneyland or Brownwoid ... But I am afraid if I lived there I'd completely lose my weak hold on reality )
ReplyDeleteVery western, except for those palms! It reminds me of Frontierland at Disney.
ReplyDeleteI like the rustic look!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the entrance to the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance it almost looks like the entrance to a fort Lowell :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a very rustic looking entrance. But, I'm guessing the houses are anything but rustic.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm going backwards in time looking at this.
ReplyDeleteFronteerland???? Are we at Disney by mistake??????? Where's Davy Crockett? Danial Boone? Old Yellar?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would like this particular village. Western? Why would anyone want to go to Florida and live in a place that looks like Nevada with palms?
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Jack!
ReplyDeleteI like the rustic look.
