Those of you who have followed our blog on The Villages, Florida, know that this sinking ship was placed in Lake Sumter at the time it was built (less than 10 years ago) as a decoration and point of interest. It's been sinking ever since, bit by bit. Every once in awhile it sinks a little too much and is bailed out and restored to its less-sinking previous position.
To see it you must visit Lake Sumter Landing's downtown in The Villages. As you can see, it is again seriously sinking. I hope it will soon be brought back up whereby it can be sinking but not drowning.
Ha. That's definitely an attraction.
ReplyDeleteWell, that is different!!! I hope it doesn't drown, too!! You do find the good ones!! Hope your week is going well, Lowell!!
ReplyDeleteI find myself wondering what the point is!
ReplyDeleteI can see why this would be an attraction, because many people, including myself, have a fascination for ships. Lovely photo. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that might be a losing battle there. The reflections in the water are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I went back and looked at the lettering at my Lunchbox and then at yours again and I think you could be right!
A tourist attraction!!
ReplyDeleteMayday Mayday !!
ReplyDelete;-)

That's a slow 'death'!
ReplyDeleteUna imagen muy bonita...me gusta...un saludo desde Murcia...
ReplyDeleteA very curious story... love your image, Lowell !
ReplyDeleteI wonder when the owners will finally tire of rescuing it. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yes I remember the sinking ship :) lovely image Lowell.
ReplyDeleteI remember this: it is a very good idea!
ReplyDeleteSoon, maybe the only way you'll be able to view it will be in a glass-botto m boat. Hey, Gilligan?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it can go on sinking like that for much longer. At some point it's going to fall apart.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I'd seen this sinking but not sinking ship! Love your composition!
ReplyDeleteQuick sand?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that idea is one that was thought out long term.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unsual story! :-)
ReplyDeleteAn almost-sinking ship? You don't see those every day.
ReplyDeleteNice story about a lovely ship.
ReplyDeleteAnd the reflection in wonderful.
