I did not see it until I began working on this photo. Then I realized that one of the small lights on the grille of the ambulance is burned out.
So I didn't take the photo because of the missing light. I took the photo because I wanted to capture the sense of urgency emitted by the vehicle as it came rushing toward us. (I think I failed at that.)
But then I began to wonder: if the emergency personnel don't care enough to ensure that all the lights on their vehicle are operational, dare I assume that all of their life-saving equipment is in good working order?

ReplyDeletePerhaps the light just went out. We have driven our cars sometimes without knowing that one of the headlights was out 'til we sensest something was wrong. At least they didn't try to put out your lights!
ReplyDeleteI (hopefully) suspect they pay more attention to the gear inside than all the lights outside. I daresay they have enough of them that the one missing light is unlikely to be catastrophic. It's possible that it went out this very day. And still trying to be optimistic: wouldn't you rather they responded to you on this day than having the ambulance out of commission to replace a light?

ReplyDeleteWell, let's hope the light just burned out. I'm astounded that a car actually pulled over and yielded to the ambulance. That's a rare sight nowadays.

I think the front lights are alternating and you caught it mid alternate--ya know.

Not a bad thought, but maybe they use the excuse (for their light) when stopped, "It must have just happened, officer...." I know I do....
