Publix is the name of a very nice chain of supermarkets in this area. While Publix may be pricey at times, the quality and quantity of goods usually makes up for the extra cost. One of the best things about Publix is their bakery. The variety and tastiness of the items produced by the Publix bakeries are superb and would rival, I think, any of our independent bakeries.
Blueberry pie for me. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your access to a Publix store. I used to shop at one when visiting my parents. Our grocery store bakery is not worth the effort. Our Walmart bakery is much better which gives you as idea of where we are. Must drive 50 mile to an artisan bakery.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun place! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I love Publix and their bakery. Years ago, I was lucky enough to meet Mr. George Jenkins, the founder of Publix, at an event in Lakeland. It was just a couple of years before he died and he was in a wheelchair. Very impressive man even then!
ReplyDeletein France, people will soon call "bakery" a place where bread dough is not fully tailored
ReplyDeleteGood to know :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a grand place.
Interesting place. Not out here---I don't think so anyway. Haggens out here has an excellent bakery though

I've heard of Publix. It sounds a lot like our AJ's stores. They are also upscale grocers. I bet I shop at AJ's at least once a week. Yes, they are pricier on some things but, I can always depend on the quality. I tend to get meats, cheese and bakery items there and leave the other stuff to Safeway.
ReplyDeleteOh no! It's midnight in Perth and now all I can think about is pastries.. thanks Jacob!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely THE supermarket in our neck of the woods. Nothing else compares. The people who work there are unfailingly nice as well -- and they will order stuff for you if they don't have it. (I won't buy tomatoes there though since they don't support the worker's union -- one cent more). But we always try to buy as much produce as possible from local farm markets anyway so that isn't a hard sacrifice on our part.)
ReplyDeleteI always shopped in Publix when visiting Florida - loved them!
ReplyDeleteThey are also generous with the sandwiches. We had many over the xmas break!
ReplyDeleteFirst visited this chain in South Carolina Clean and eel-stocked.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting bakeries for the aroma!!
ReplyDeleteThe supermarket looks so nice and made me want to stroll around in person. Usually bakeries at the chain store supermarkets are not so good in my part of the world and I’m in favor of breads from a small local independent bakeries. I’d like to try the breads on your recommendation if I were there.
