I posted a fisheye view of this sculpture a few years ago. One of the folks commenting at that time said this about it:
"The previous owner was a gambler and it is suppose to represent dice, a marker, and a ball from roulette. It was previously at an estate off of 11th ave but was donated to the college."
I'll gamble that is the truth!
Sounds like a Birdman quote!
ReplyDeleteWeird to have at a college.
ReplyDeleteLovely capture!
ReplyDeleteDid you win your bet? I hope you did!
ReplyDeleteNice image! What were the odds that it would end up at the college? :)
ReplyDeleteConsidering what college costs these days, and the likelihood of a good job to pay off those debts, a roll of the dice is an appropriate sculpture!
ReplyDeleteThe explanation gives it form!
ReplyDeleteRe your comment on my post - I don't live so high up. I live on the 2nd floor and the picture is taken from the terrace of our apartment complex which is 18 storeys high :)
Interesting object and a good story to go with it.

So, Lowell, you believe everything that is left as a comment on your posts?! I should have fun in the future!! Have to admit that it is a good explanation, though.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound plausible however, I would have thought it might have something to do with geometry.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kay.
ReplyDeletePublic art always prompts an interesting discourse. : ) Personally, if I had to look at it every day, I would want to straighten it upright.
