Out Of My Gourd

One day not long ago, I mentioned to a friend that the leaves on some of our trees changed colors in the fall.  He laughed and laughed and said, "You're out of your gourd!"

Well, I want you to know I am not out of my gourd.  And to prove it I offer the photo below showing several intact gourds.

And then, to show my friend just how wrong he was to laugh at me and mock me I've included shots of a few of our changing trees.  I know these don't compare with what you can see up north, but hey, they're better than nothing!

  1. Nice shots. Our trees don't have that New England style foliage either. They just fade and blow away. :)

  4. Yes. These qualify as changing.
As to the gourds...? Who's to say these are your gourds? And, really, it takes some magic to exit from a gourd. How do we really know where you've come from, gourd or no gourd...?

  7. This shows that the seasons do change in Florida. And I've been out of my gourd almost the whole month of November.

  9. Glad to see your gourd is in tact. Since I also live in a warm climate area, I know that the leaves do change it just takes them a little bit longer to get the job done.

  10. I see all gourds are intact--whew!
We don't have a huge number of beautiful Fall colored trees out this way either--well not like New England so any color is wonderful. I hope your friend has thrown in the towel by now.

  11. First I was puzzled, and then I thought the title could be an idiom, and I was right. “Out of one’s gourd” is in my vocabulary now. Good for you that you can enjoy the changing colors of trees in such warm place.

I’m glad you seem to have enjoyed the autumn foliage in my part of the world. Thank you for your encouraging, kind words as always. Wish you and your family happy and healthy days ahead, Lowell.
