The Old Marion Theater

The old Marion Theater in downtown Ocala is still in business. It went defunct a few years ago, was rehabilitated as a stage theater, but that didn't work out, and now it's back to its original incarnation as a movie theater; so far so good.

  3. I love the old movie theaters, Lowell, and I love this photo! The sign reminds me very much of an old one here in Montreal. It was called the Snowdon Theater. :)

  4. It's too easy for people to find entertainment in so many other ways that don't involve a trip downtown. This one surely is a classic.

  9. You know, one of the things I enjoyed about traveling for work back in the 90's was visiting old movie theaters in the different towns. I found great ones in St. Louis, Chicago and Denver. I hope this one thrives.

  10. Thinking back to a delightful comment you left me re 'Edith', I wish I had the talent to do a reply poem about the lovely 'Marion' and maybe throw in a line or two about a palm tree also :).

  14. We used to have two old theaters like that in downtown Tallahassee. Sadly they are gone. I'm glad to see that one still in use!
