This fine-feathered friend is standing guard over a nest which is located in a bush just to his left. I think he sensed danger, but I'm not sure from what source. After a bit he flew away so the danger probably passed and he felt his nest was safe again - for awhile.
Very colourful!
ReplyDeleteThe cardinal is one of my favourite birds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet portrait of this Cardinal. I hope his nest does well.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous capture, Lowell!
ReplyDeleteReally? You've still got birds after that hurricane? I'd have thought they'd be somewhere up around North Carolina by now. (BTW, I had to go all the way to Arizona one spring in order to see the only two live cardinals I've ever seen.)
ReplyDeleteReally cute and pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sending a comment as I have had trouble getting your blog to accept my comments, no idea why. Lovely male cardinal guarding his nest.
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful bird, Lowell. Maybe you were coming too close ?
ReplyDeleteHe's a handsome guy!
ReplyDeleteThat Cardinal looks terrific. Glad you mentioned his nest was in a nearby bush as he is much too large for that birdhouse. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty. I've found that photographing cardinals here in Arizona is a bit of a challenge. They are so much more skittish than other birds.
ReplyDeleteAw, Lowell. this beauty was posing for you!
ReplyDeleteHe is gorgeous! Cardinals are just about my favorite bird.
ReplyDeleteThanks once again for your kind comments on my photography. They mean a lot coming from you and really make my day!
He's the most colourful wee guard I've ever seen Lowell 😀
ReplyDeleteA pretty sentinel. Wish we had Cardinals up this way
