"That will be $150.00, please," said the clerk.
"What, that's on sale for $100.00!" said the woman customer.
The clerk responded, "Oh, no, that was yesterday. Today it's $150.00."
"That's not fair!" said the male customer, angrily.
"True. But we don't care and it really doesn't matter, your credit card has been rejected," responded the clerk.
"Well, we'll just take our business elsewhere," said the customers in unison.
"Oh goody," said the clerk, "I can go on break now."

ReplyDeleteYou can understand the clerk's reaction, but it's still not very "professional". Better, I think, just to say that his credit card had been rejected and leave it at that.
ReplyDeleteYour story may be fiction, but that is not far from my last experience with a chain department store. It was not Sears because they pulled out of our town years ago.

ReplyDeleteInteresting effects in your shot. One thing I like about living in a smaller town is that you generally don't find people in retail behaving like that...and that's no fiction.
ReplyDeleteWilliam beat me to saying that Sears is pretty much done here in Canada, Lowell. And I worked in retail for 17 years and have had some (thankfully the majority) very nice customers but I have had some not so nice as well. I smiled at your text. :)

ReplyDeleteI do like the effects in this photo Lowell! I'm just wondering how much longer Sears or any other department store will be in business at the rate they are going. The last time I stood in line at a department store, it took so long that I got into a discussion with another customer about how we should have just gone online to shop.

ReplyDeleteWhen the kids were little we would get the Sears catalog (no outhouse stories here) and we would look at the clothes and bikes and such. Then at Christmas time The Wish Book came out and we could wish and dream. Poor Sears
