The Silver Springs Park Water Tower

If you visited Silver Springs in the past, when it was still a private fun park, before Disney World and Orlando's other theme parks sprang up to put Silver Springs out of business, you'll recognize this water tower which was, and is, a landmark.

The water tower is one of the few features that remains from the original park, although I'm not sure if it's functional or merely ceremonial.

  3. I was there a couple of times in the 1970's. I always enjoyed the ride in the glass bottom boat.

  4. You have somehow managed to make the tower look mysteriously appealing whatever its use is Lowell ☺

  5. I remember that water tower, pre Disney! Fun times. I featured a water tower today, too. They are great for letting you know where the photo was taken!

    Happy Monday, Lowell.

  6. I have always loved seeing water towers across the US. This one looks quite substantial. Glad it is still there!

Thanks for your comment, Lowell, last week. You always make me (and many others) smile. Coventry has a population of just under 350,000. Don't pack your bags just yet, Coventry is a bit of a mess at the moment and looks much like a building site. Student invasion is in full swing. As for Trump? Don't get me started :). Have a good week!!

  7. Before I even read your comments, I was thinking I bet that water tower was there when I was there so many, many years ago.

  9. If a VFR pilot gets lost they can always fly low enough to read the water towers. Your photo has historic significance.

  11. Hmmmm...a "ceremonial" water tower. Does that mean people gather below and dance around it on occasion? Or invite it along on picnics? Use it as a backdrop for weddings???

  13. Beautiful tower, but with all the evolution that time has, today it'is probably just decorative.

  15. I have always liked water towers. Amazing the level of diversity once can find among them, and yet they are visible, reliable landmarks in almost every community. Good photo!
