Some time ago, Silver Springs Park hosted an event which featured native Americans and their crafts. This gentleman was dressed in Seminole Indian clothing.
I love ethnic arts, crafts and clothing (of almost any tribe or country) and I wish those of native Americans were available here too, but I haven't seen any at all!
I have mixed feelings when I see such a picture. The treatment by Andrew Jackson of the Seminoles was so filled with deceit and cruelty. You should see what happened to their chief Osceola. Thanks again for your thoughtful comments on my blog. Lee
@ Lee - I'm with you. Jackson hated all Indians with a passion and was a rabid racist to boot. Osceola was tricked to "come in" with a promise of immunity, then imprisoned and later died in prison.
Fairly typical. The U.S. made over 150 treaties with the Indian nations over a period of 100 years and did not keep one of them!
It's so interesting to learn about the lives of the natives before we Europeans came and treated them like crap. When I was a kid, I used to wish I was Native American and lived in a teepee. Of course, our Native Americans over here lived much differently than those from the southern states. It gets much colder here, and it's quite a bit drier.
Nice looking man. I really like the kneehigh footwear & of course, the headress. BTW - I'm glad you enjoy the views of the Palos Verdes coastline. I enjoy your reminiscenses about Calif coast.
um hes not southern florida semilnole, but oklahoma seminole. THe florida seminoles do not dress like plains indians, the ones thatr went on the trail of tears did. SO there are 2 different groups, the ones thart stayed and refused to leave, and the ones that left. THe ones that left kept with the plains culture and dress, the ones that didnt wear different regalia then this ty

I have such a soft spot for Native American Indians. I don't know why. It would be an honour to meet one.
