Until Interstate 75 was built some years ago, State Road 441 was the main north-south route through Central Florida and ran right through the center of Ocala. This is a section of 441 near downtown and, as you can see, the main Ocala police station is located here in a commercial center.
The photo was taken recently with an old film camera and old film. I rather liked the effect.
I like the effect, too.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in college (more than a few years ago), another guy and I went to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area for spring break. I remember we drove on U.S. 27. Is that near you?
@ Memphis - Yes! In fact, at this point 27 and 441 are the same road. About a mile further north, 27 veers off west and north and 441 continues to Gainesville and beyond...27 runs south all the way to Miami.

With the exception of a car accident, I did have a wonderful time! Weather gorgeous, Québec so beautiful, 1000 photos to sort through so you will have to wait a little. I miss North America already. And you're making it worse, showing me a typical road, a typical truck, and police (the Québec city policeman who came for the accident was very nice!)

ReplyDelete27 actually runs straight into the old Capitol building in downtown Tallahassee, makes a right turn and continues through downtown and on up past my house and into Georgia. I was noticing that billboard in your picture and the lawyer's last name--Fenderson--perfect for accident, injury, DUI/traffic "fender bender" cases!

Re: the Buffs. Yes they are raised for meat. I am not much of a meat eater but I have had Buffalo meat and it is very tasty.. I do have some older shots of the buffs and the big bull is staring or should I say glaring right at me. MB

ReplyDeleteYou get to Lake Weir, by heading south on Hwy 441, until you hit Sunset Harbor Rd, in which you take a right. You'll hit Lake Weir directly on that road.
