Spring has arrived for the barren tree

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a photo of this tree, barren of any foliage. Some folks wondered if it had been pruned so severely that it would die. In Florida, it is hard to kill most plants, and even the slightest weed will grow into a tree if not cut down!

You can see the original shot here.

  2. That's impressive! Next time some ill-advised person gives me a houseplant I'm going to send it straight to Florida.

  3. It's a crape myrtle and will be beautiful in a few months.

  4. There are many 'stumpy' trees like that here. Every so often they prune the sycamores, and this is what they look like when they fight back!

  5. I think you super glued some leaves on it. I was one who thought the poor tree must be dead. It is still a bad prune job but you know how things grow there. MB

  8. Paula, I know how you feel. Anyhow. That pruned tree is going to do just fine.

  9. They do that here too to the crepe myrtle thees to keep them small enough to fit the space and force more blooms. It is not healthy for the trees. Having said this particular tree is pretty resilient.

  10. regarding you comment about the Big Horn Sheep--yes I have a few blurry pics. they are so high up and I never could zoom in on they very well. I keep trying though. Now that the mountain passes are cleared of snow I want to go back to the canyon. Spring wildflowers to photograph---and maybe a big Horn sheep. MB

  13. I can relate to that, this is pretty much what we've seen here! It's such a joy to see "life" coming back to the trees!
    God bless you!

  15. I'd laugh at how funny it looks, but there are small trees in some people's front yards here in Canada with trees that look just as silly. :)

  16. Lots of trees like that around here too! It's amazing how they look by the end of the summer--like it never even happened.
