Gateway Bank - The New Old Fashioned Bank - Ocala

A few years ago, Gateway Bank bought property from a Baptist Church on Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala and proceeded to construct a striking "new" old-fashioned bank on the site. It is, in my opinion, what a bank should look like, and the people at Gateway are a delight - ready, willing and able to assist you with your financial needs. Gateway also has offices in Gainesville and Alachua. You can read all about this fine institution here.

  4. When I took that architectural tour of Toronto a few weeks ago, our guide explained something about banks to us. In the old, old days people didn't like to use banks. They didn't think they were safe and so preferred to keep their cash in a coffee can or whatnot. Banks came up with the idea of building superfancy structures that they thought would inspire confidence and make people want to leave their money there. That's why a lot of old bank buildings are so nice. I think your local bank is going back to the old ways. :)

  8. Agreed. It is a lovely building. Though, these days I rarely go inside banks. Just to the ATM.

Thanks for visiting. Yup, I play golf down here. Enough to decide I should stick with photography.

  15. It certainly is regal-looking, but with all those inviting seating areas, I would imagine some people might be tempted to park in front of the fire and watch television all day. It'd be kind of funny if they had to kick people out at closing time. Lovely photos, Lowell. And thanks for all the kind words and encouragement on my blog. It's much appreciated!

  16. How lovely! Don't they want to set up an offshore branch in Manila? I'd be their first client.

  17. I bank at Gateway and almost never use the drive-thru. Most people park and walk inside, have a person to person experience and come out with a big smile. What a concept!

  20. Warm fuzzies about a bank? I'm not sure I can go there. But I'll try since it is the Christmas season. Or, open season, if you are the Devil or one of his spawn.
