At the headwaters of the Silver River, at Silver Springs park, at the glass bottom boat dock, this sign stands as a warning. Feeding wildlife makes them less afraid of humans and could lead to the notion on the part of the wildlife that a human is good to eat. So, if you visit Silver Springs State Park, please refrain from feeding bears, foxes, bobcats, alligators, snakes, armadillos or other such critters. Squirrels and pigeons, I would guess, are exempt from that prohibition.
Ah, does make one wonder about the brain functioning of many, doesn't it!! Beautiful place! I'd love to visit there and I do only feed birds and squirrels -- I have plenty of experience as I have a yard full of both! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Lowell!

ReplyDeleteBloorcourt comes from a combo of Bloor St & Dovercourt Rd. And CBS rents out billboard space here and there is one up above the vet sign.

ReplyDeleteOh don't feed the pigeons either -- those are flying rats! Funny that manicured lawn and flowerbed don't look like they harbor a lot of wildlife. But who knows.

ReplyDeleteI really don't understand the need of many people to toss food at wild animals. If the humans weren't there, the wildlife would do just fine. Maybe better.

ReplyDeleteWith those kinds of wild animals around, I'll heed the warning. Especially those gators. I don't trust them at all.
ReplyDeleteThere are signs all over Grand Canyon National Park that tell people not to feed the squirrels, in several languages, with pictures of squirrels and of a persons hand that has a big bite on it. We usually see someone sitting by the sign, feeding the squirrels.
