Duck Dynasty Chair
Just when you think you seen it all, something like this Duck Dynasty chair pops up. We found it in an upscale furniture store where we go once in awhile just to drool over stuff we can never afford. It was very much out-of-place, as you can imagine. And ugly as sin.
If you've not heard of the Duck Dynasty clan, they're a bunch of rednecks from way down south Louisiana way who pretend they live in the swamps and chase gators and other critters. I don't know where the idea came from but the men let their hair and beards grow and they got their own teehee teevee show and they're interviewed on talk shows and they love Jesus and isn't it wunnerful.
The truth is they are a bunch of yuppies who before they became Duck Dynasty wore suits and ties and had short hair and drove expensive cars and spent more time in classy saloons and restaurants than in the swamps.
In other words, it's all a con. But hey, it's the American way, and they've got their own upscale ugly chair in furniture stores everywhere, along with tee shirts and hats and just about every other product you can tie a name; and they're raking in millions of dollars!
Ugly!
Ugly indeed!!! And just the kind of people in the south that encouraged me to move to Oregon!!!
ReplyDeleteDid they have a second one? I need a pair.
ReplyDeleteBy Odin, that is hideously ugly (you don't suppose the Duck Dynasty hustlers would appreciate my using a Norse deity as an oath, huh?).
ReplyDeleteThat thing looks like it was beaten by an ugly stick. Which is strangely suiting, considering the whole 'cast' of that show look like they were too.
I have managed to avoid seeing even 1 second of that show! That is one ugly chair, Lowell.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks! And you forgot to mention the part about how they are also bigots.
ReplyDeleteThat is one product or show I will never support.
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't pay me enough to watch that show....well, maybe for a million I could be coerced into watching one episode....maybe.
ReplyDeleteThe unfortunate thing is, people like it. Now that's down right scary. And someone will buy that chair, and that's scary tool
Quick bucks for the asking?!
ReplyDeleteLOL Lowell, this is ugly for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd managed to completely escape them until some controversy erupted around them and I started hearing the term "Duck Dynasty." The chair looks about as appealing as they are. I hope the furniture store has to eat it. Branded stuff? No thanks.
ReplyDeleteAt least you could spill things all over it while sat watching TV... and not spot the mess you were making!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the funny story: we had something like this a while ago...
ReplyDeleteThat is SUPER-ugly. I have never watched the show and I don't care too. I can't imagine anyone actually wanting something like this in their home...
ReplyDeleteCould you hear my groan all the way in Florida? That is sheer ugliness and to think someone will really put out some hard earned cash to own it is even more dreadful. I think "con" is the perfect description for these shows.
ReplyDeleteYep, you said it all. Don't people know better. UGLY, YES!
ReplyDeleteYou know cats will never--I repeat-never take to herding. Don't ya love them though.

Major ugly. I have never watched this show, but I am ashamed to say it is on cable in Serbia.... I wish TV would give itself a serious upgrade.
ReplyDeleteQuite apart from the fact that I don't think I'd like them much, I think this chair is the epitome of bad taste!
ReplyDeleteDear Lowell - I had never heard of Duck Dynasty till now. While almost all the commenting people here dislike the products by Dutch Dynasty, why could the company earn money? There is no accounting for tastes would be the answer?
ReplyDeleteYoko
One look at this chair has convinced me I don't need to see the TV show!
