Kitsch is a word with varied meanings, but when you speak of Florida kitsch, you're referring to funky, colorful items such as this palm tree, plastic pink flamingos, etc. Actually, there is less Florida kitsch here in Ocala, and this palm tree with the purple trunk would be more like what you'd find in south Florida, which is inundated with kitsch!
You know how I love Florida kitsch so of course I like this one! ;-))
ReplyDeleteIt certainly fits the bill.
ReplyDeleteI do love your captures, Lowell, they are the next best thing to being there!! Thanks for sharing the beauty and the fun!! Have a great new week!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there is a term "Arizona kitsch"? I do know there is a guy here who makes colorful palm trees similar to this but in really bright colors. I've seen them all over town.
ReplyDeleteI love the feel and colours!
ReplyDeleteHey! I need one of these! My neighbors would be s-o-o-o envious. Then I could get a little flock of flamingos to go with it.
ReplyDeleteAt least it doesn't need watering.
ReplyDeleteI like it, too. Kitschy, but cool.
ReplyDeleteIs it bad for me to admit that I like the kitsch? There is something appealing about the whimsy and bright colors. :)
ReplyDeleteun beau palmier rose, en effet le sommet du kitsch
ReplyDeletePerfect title, Lowell ! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. Not my style but I it makes me smile where in places like this.
ReplyDeleteLove this!!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting example, sadly kitsch is almost everywhere now...
ReplyDeletevery kitch for me
ReplyDeleteWe have a fair amount in SW FL too, but agreed nothing like 'the other coast'.
ReplyDeleteIt does make a statement I suppose---but what?
