Orange Lake is a small community a few miles north of Ocala. Highway 441 runs through the middle of town. Orange Lake has the largest junkyard (i.e. trading post) I've ever seen. Piles and piles of stuff. If you needed a part for some obscure machine of ancient memory, you might be able to find it here. Actually, while the place is rather interesting, it is an eyesore. But it's been in its current spot for years and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
An interesting place -- somewhat of an eyesore, but I'm sure that's the last thing anyone thinks about!! Hope you're enjoying your weekend -- with or without any junk!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame, Lowell, how some people just don't care. It looks like an otherwise lovely place. So sad.
ReplyDeleteI doubt I would have the patience to look for something in this trading post. I suffer from information overload.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of stuff! I like the Spanish moss in the second shot.
ReplyDeleteThe term "chock-a-block" comes to mind. It looks like one needs to be a committed picker to find...well, whatever.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what marvelous treasures might be hiding in all that old junk, or should I call it "collectables"? Interesting place, but since this is Florida, I might be wondering what wildlife is also living there.
ReplyDeleteExcelente trabalho e boas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.
What happens when it rains? Does all this stuff just get soaked?
ReplyDeletei'm wondering the same thing as halcyon!
ReplyDeleteYou can search a long time and find another think
ReplyDeleteWe have a similar place but they use the greyhound park parking lot for that one. It keeps it a bit hidden from the street.
ReplyDeleteIt may be an eyesore Lowell but I wouldn't mind having a closer inspection :)
ReplyDeleteA proverbial sea of junk!
ReplyDeleteI think I would like to explore the place...
ReplyDeleteCrikey, the yard sale to beat all yard sales.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a mess...
ReplyDeleteWow - overload!!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you today, Lowell!
What a huge place and your right, there is plenty of 'stuff' there. My husband would happily spend hours there - not me :).
ReplyDeleteMy kind of place. I am a thrift shop/garage sale junkie.
ReplyDeleteThere are people here in our RV Park who hit these flea markets at least once a week ...I don't get the attraction ( especially when you live in small spaces), but many people wouldn't miss them.
ReplyDeleteDid you see me waving when we breezed past Ocala on Our way home?
A good "rastro" find old things.
ReplyDeleteA hug:
I would have had a look around there.....
ReplyDeleteThis looks more like a flea market rather than a trading post, at least the ones with which I am familiar in the historic Southwest.
ReplyDeleteA lot of stuff here, Lowell !
ReplyDeleteI need a chair...
A junkyard... that's new for me.
