Ye Olde Abandoned Truck - Brownwood, The Villages

We've posted photos of this old truck before on our The Villages blog, but it seems to fit October's theme of "Abandoned" quite well. Actually, it may be abandoned but has found new life as a city artifact in the newest of downtowns of The Villages, Brownwood.

The City Daily Photo theme for October 1 is "Abandoned."  You can check out other takes on the theme here.

This post was cross-posted to The Villages (Florida) Photos.

  1. It does indeed look like a sculpture to the past select by the community. The greenery surrounds and protects it in its lone-kind-of-beauty.

  4. It's a unique yard ornament. Someone should rescue it and get it running again.

  5. Of course it's now public art or some such thing! I didn't think The Villages would allow an abandoned truck to just lie around somewhere. Absolutely love the colors and textures of that old truck. Well done!

  11. I love the vintage car. It would great in someone's back yard as a nice and quiet little getaway. Their seats are a lot bigger to relax on. My first thought was, Redd Fox's type of car seeing he owned a junk yard on Sanford and Son.

  12. It's a beauty, Lowell! I just read your comment on Kate's blog about the Doc Ford books. I will have to look for them - I love Sanibel and love mysteries so a good combo!

  14. That old 1940 Ford pickup truck looks great as a garden ornament. Have a friend who recently built one of these as a hotrod for his wife. It is a beautiful vehicle when back on the road, but has all new suspension, brakes, and powerful V-8 motor.

  15. What old truck wouldn't want such a retirement? It actually looks as if it's had a bit of a buffing so it doesn't look too disreputable.
