We've posted photos of this old truck before on our The Villages blog, but it seems to fit October's theme of "Abandoned" quite well. Actually, it may be abandoned but has found new life as a city artifact in the newest of downtowns of The Villages, Brownwood.
The City Daily Photo theme for October 1 is "Abandoned." You can check out other takes on the theme
here.

It does indeed look like a sculpture to the past select by the community. The greenery surrounds and protects it in its lone-kind-of-beauty.
ReplyDeleteTo me this is the best kind of art.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice and vintage and in a beautiful setting!
ReplyDeleteIt's a unique yard ornament. Someone should rescue it and get it running again.
ReplyDeleteOf course it's now public art or some such thing! I didn't think The Villages would allow an abandoned truck to just lie around somewhere. Absolutely love the colors and textures of that old truck. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMuito bem camuflado no meio da natureza.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Doc Ford (SRQ's posts today)? Obviously I am missing a local author?!
ReplyDeleteAbandoned yet repurposed for the sake of fun memories! Not such a bad fate.
ReplyDeleteOld trucks are so neat and this definitely looks like garden art. Good find.

I love the vintage car. It would great in someone's back yard as a nice and quiet little getaway. Their seats are a lot bigger to relax on. My first thought was, Redd Fox's type of car seeing he owned a junk yard on Sanford and Son.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty, Lowell! I just read your comment on Kate's blog about the Doc Ford books. I will have to look for them - I love Sanibel and love mysteries so a good combo!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a garden gnome now!
ReplyDeleteThat old 1940 Ford pickup truck looks great as a garden ornament. Have a friend who recently built one of these as a hotrod for his wife. It is a beautiful vehicle when back on the road, but has all new suspension, brakes, and powerful V-8 motor.
ReplyDeleteWhat old truck wouldn't want such a retirement? It actually looks as if it's had a bit of a buffing so it doesn't look too disreputable.
ReplyDeleteI expect it's past the point of no return.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot to be said for the beauty of entropy.
ReplyDeleteWell it fits in perfectly with the ye olde 'everthing' in the Villages hey Lowell 😊😊
ReplyDeleteOld trucks are so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteperfect find for this theme, Lowell !
It looks like it is settling in quite well there. Almost part of the natural scenery!
