Red Box Movies & Games

If, on this New Year's Eve, you have become tired of watching "Santa is 'real'" movies, and the new "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" bores you, and you just cannot stand another re-run of "Everybody Loves Raymond," then head on down to your nearest Red Box (usually in front of Walgreens' drug stores), and for $1.00 you can rent a movie that interests you or a game for the kiddos. And have a Happy New Year!

Yard light and palm tree

No biggie. I just liked how the lights and the palm tree related to each other.

Drinking and driving ...

...this is what things look like if you imbibe and drive. Just ask Republican Senator Mike Crapo from Idaho, a non-drinking Mormon who received a DUI anyway!

Medical Records

Do you remember when computers became part and parcel of our lives?

One of the justifications for using computers was this: It will do away with our need for paper and we will save many precious trees.

Somehow that failed to happen. We discovered that with computers we could easily print out thousands of pieces of paper in a few minutes. And that's what we did and do. For example, most doctors' offices put our records into the computer and then print out a paper copy as a "backup." So computers have not eliminated but increased our need for, and use of, paper.

Poor trees! Poor us!

Hauling a Garbage Truck

There are times when a truck which hauls garbage, because of a mechanical failure, must itself be hauled away. Oh, the indignity of it all!

Gateway Bank - The New Old Fashioned Bank - Ocala

A few years ago, Gateway Bank bought property from a Baptist Church on Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala and proceeded to construct a striking "new" old-fashioned bank on the site. It is, in my opinion, what a bank should look like, and the people at Gateway are a delight - ready, willing and able to assist you with your financial needs. Gateway also has offices in Gainesville and Alachua. You can read all about this fine institution here.

McAlister's Deli - Interior

Dear friends: I'm very sorry but I'm going to require word verification again on this blog. Today, we received over 70 spam emails on this blog alone. Blogger and AOL seem incapable of stopping this spam in spite of the fact I have advised them on names, etc., to block.

Ocala lineman

You may remember "Wichita Lineman" which was a huge hit for Glen Campbell some years ago. Well, the Wichita lineman somehow made it to Ocala and I found him hard at work.

This blog, because it serves as a sort of linchpin to our blogging efforts, has been reactivated. Stay tuned.

Big black cloud

Do you ever feel like a big, black cloud is following you wherever you go?

Near this house in the woods...

I'm sure I spied a little girl wearing a red hood. And at the edge of the woods I saw what appeared to be a wolf. But when the creature turned and ran I could tell it was merely a coyote. I looked back to where I spied the little girl, but she was gone. Obviously, this was not the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

Our only hope?

These specific signs appear on various street corners around our town. They are considered "litter" and the police have said you can stop, pick 'em up, and throw 'em away.
"Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
