It was a kinda dark and sorta moody night...

It was a kinda dark and sorta moody night
The moon danced in between the clouds
Shredding them with light
In the forest, wind whipped through the trees
'round frozen stumps to bite the highest canopies
revealing momentarily the face of fright

But please do not become perturbed
The world goes on and I'll explain
If you don't mind a little bit of pain
You see, my friends, things aren't
always what they seem
This witch is only queen on Halloween.

Boo!

Pumpkins can be bullies, too!

Atop the yard light, Pumpkin #1 in the first photo, was feeling pretty good about herself. Here she was on top of her world (so to speak) where she could survey her domain and bring smiles to the faces of children of all ages.

But sadly that was not to be because the Pumpkins in the second photo, although they look happily innocent are, in fact, just the opposite. The face you see is the face they present to the public. But when no one is looking, they gang up on Pumpkin #1, call her names, tell her she probably has liver disease because she's so yellow, that she's trapped on that stupid pole and that the kids actually think she's stupid.

However, the Pumpkins in the second photo are not going to do any of that anymore. They watched me take their picture. They heard me say that if they didn't behave they would have to face the consequences, the worst one being they would become mascots for the rock group, "The Smashing Pumpkins," and would be required to illustrate on stage what a smashed pumpkin looks like.

You're welcome.

Mercedes Convertible ... Ouch!

We were walking in downtown Ocala and I noticed this older, but very nice, Mercedes convertible parked in a parking lot.  I took a photo of it as I know that a number of photobloggers are into old cars and such.

On our way back to where we had parked, we passed this older, but very nice, Mercedes convertible again.  I took another photo but for a different reason.  See the piece of yellow paper under the windshield wiper?

That's a parking ticket.  Ouch!

Hanging in there ... crookedly!

While walking through Dillard's department store the other day I noticed several racks of men's shirts where the first shirt was hung in this strange angle.

After straining my neck trying to figure out what kind of shirt this was, I asked a clerk why they hung shirts in this manner. She didn't know but said she thought that's the way "they" did things in Europe.

Really?

On the other hand, maybe the hanger person was drunk!  :)

Riding Duo

This was snapped quickly in Cedar Key. I was tempted to stop them and speak of bicycle safety, but then realized I ought mind my own business.  No sense asking for trouble.  Right?

First Presbyterian Church - Palatka, Florida

First Presbyterian Church in Palatka, Florida, is located on a beautiful site very near the St. John's River.  It is a substantial congregation, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), the more liberal of the Presbyterian groups.

The congregation offers worship services and study opportunities along with a variety of social programs, and believes part of its mission is to help meet the needs of the larger local community.

As you can see, the church building is quite impressive.  A stand-out feature is the bell tower which faces the St. John's River.

Kane's Furniture Store - Ocala

Kane's Furniture has been a fixture in Ocala for a number of years.  It is an eclectic store, offering something for most everyone...from Florida kitsch, to mid-century modern, to Hollywood glamour to French Provincial, etc.

Above are a few scenes showing a small portion of what the store offers the discerning or not-so-discerning buyer.

Women Bikers Take Over Cedar Key

We thought we'd take a nice leisurely drive over to Cedar Key.  It's about 75 miles west of where we live in Ocala.

Coming up Highway 19, we were overtaken by a group of women bikers, most of whom were driving beautiful Harleys.  I'm guessing there were about 30 people in the group.

They turned left on County Road 24 and we followed.  Sure enough they led us right into Cedar Key.

At that point they went their way and we went ours.  We saw some on the Dock later, and ran into a couple of other women bikers who were not part of the group, but said some of the women were their friends.

As we left, we noted the women's bikes still parked on the bridge, and another smaller group of bikers heading into the dock.

There's just something about Cedar Key that calls to Bikers everywhere!

New York Yankees Car

The word, "fan," derives from "fanatic." A fan, therefore, is fanatical about something or someone. Sports fans are noted for their fanaticism. Some sports fans go to extreme lengths to show their love for their favorite team or player.

The owner of this car would seem to be a fanatical fan of the New York Yankees baseball team; so much so that he had his car painted with the same stripes that are worn on the uniforms of New York Yankees players.

I don't understand this, but then I'm fanatical about other things. But what those things are shall remain a mystery.

Okay, one of them is photography.  You got it out of me.  Sheesh!  Are you happy now?
"Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
