Companion Animal Clinic
The lobby area of this animal clinic has been outfitted with fabric panels on the wall and hanging from the ceiling. Their purpose is to dampen the cacophony of barking dogs, screeching cats, and clamorous humans.

When is a Nook a book?
I always thought a nook was a place where you could hide away or a part of a kitchen tucked in a corner where one would sit to eat. Now I find a nook is a book. Well, sort of. More like an electronic book reader. I suppose you could take your Nook which is a book into a nook in a kitchen and sit and read your Nook in the nook.

Early spring
It's been a relatively warm winter in the Ocala area and some plants began flowering a couple of weeks ago. Then we had another hard freeze, but this beauty seems to have survived.

No war, just a military swap meet at the flea market
Some of you were very close to guessing what this was all about. I've shown you just a few of the
numerous vehicles that were present. Each of the vehicles had a descriptive tag and from that I was
able to determine this was a "swap meet," sponsored by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association.
I had never heard of the organization before but found this encampment to be most interesting. I'm
not sure if people buy and sell the vehicles at this swap meet, but I think that they do. It appeared to
me that many of those involved were friends and this was kind of like a reunion!

What war at the flea market?
There was no war. As we followed the ambulance from yesterday around to the back of the flea market, we were utterly surprised to find what looked like a large army encampment. All kinds of
military vehicles parked in a variety of configurations.
The jeep in the top photo is a 1952 model, which means it comes from the Korean war years. You'll notice the motorcycle is from WWII, 1942.
We'll show more photos tomorrow and explain what is going on here.

War at the flea market?
Marion County has a huge flea market a few miles south of Ocala. We visited there last Sunday afternoon. Coming out one of the aisles, we noted this army vehicle. Very unusual. Especially an army ambulance. So, we followed its trail. We found some interesting things which we'll show more of tomorrow...

Rescued Golden Retriever
This beautiful animal was brought in to our vet by people who had overfed him terribly. He was so fat (about 120 pounds) he could not stand up and they wanted him put to sleep. The vet took him and changed his diet dramatically which made the dog pout and not eat for about 3 days. Finally, he began to eat and after a few months, he had dropped back to his normal weight of about 50 pounds. He's still with the vet and has become something of a mascot in that office.
